How to Earn Your HFR

Earn Your HFR Certification

A one-day course is the basis for the Home Finance Resource (HFR) certification, and it is offered online and in-person so you can learn at the pace that works with your busy schedule. Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be able to apply for HFR certification.

Here’s how it works:

3 easy Steps to get certified

STEP 1. Be a member in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®.

STEP 2. Complete the one-day Home Finance Resource (HFR) Certification Course.

  • Available online at the Center for REALTOR® Development. The online course costs $115 for NAR members and $230 for non-members.
  • Available in a live classroom setting. Cost varies by provider. Search for courses near you.

STEP 3. Submit the one-time application fee of $89.

  • Once NAR sends you acknowledgment of your course credit, submit your one-time application fee of $89 to complete your certification.
  • After the initial application fee is paid, there are no annual certification dues, although you must maintain membership in NAR to use HFR.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  • If you took the online course: Course completions will be processed and entered in our database weekly.
  • If you took the classroom course: Course completion information will be entered once the course provider has submitted a class roster to us. This can take up to 2 weeks.
  • Once the course is logged as completed, you will receive an email invitation to apply for the HFR Certification online and you can submit your application fee.

BONUS!

The Home Finance Resource (HFR) certification course is an approved elective for the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation.
